Rick Santorum

Santorum Holds Tight to His Rights

Presidential races are filled with crucial times for candidates to meet the American people where they’re at. Even though it is usually easy to understand where a person or a group of people might be coming from, it is even harder on a national scale. This was the case this past weekend when presidential hopeful Rick Santorum gave his traditional views on thelegalization of same-sex marriage. Even though most of America is moving toward a more progressive view on same-sex marriage, Santorum holds onto his views. Santorum is a strong believer in his faith and mentioned that not only is he against same-sex marriage, but if the Supreme Court passes it into law, that he will fight it tooth and nail. Keith Mann (linkedin.com) notes that this comes at a time where over 60 percent of the American population believes in the legalization of same-sex marriage. Supreme Court will be voting on the law in the next few weeks and many political analysts contest that the Court will pass the legalization. Santorum has encouraged the Executive Branch and Legislative Branch of the government to counterattack this law if it is passed. The former governor even boasted of previously implementing a law that went against a law that Congress passed in previous years. It is important to note that Santorum is in no way encouraging the American people to completely disobey the law. Instead, he is encouraging them to use the political tools that they have and the appropriate politicians to fight the law and make it right in their eyes.
