Change Is Hard In Sports

If you are a big sports fan then you probably know the feeling of falling in love with your favorite team’s stadium. You probably know the feeling of awe that you get each time that you attend a home game and the feeling of pride that you feel when you take a seat and know that this is your home. Your team’s place is your place. You likely feel more comfortable there than you do at a lot of places.
So, when your team decides to abandon their place and get a new one, it can be a difficult transition for you. You had a lot of memories at their place and you don’t want to forget them or the feeling of home that you had there.
For Hockey fans, some of them had to experience those feelings when saying goodbye to Nassau Coliseum. It probably felt like saying goodbye to their childhood home as they left the memories behind and prepared for a new age.
Change is always hard, especially in sports, but what we need to remember is that change can bring about good things. Folks at AnastasiaDate know that getting rid of the old and on with the new can make us feel nostalgic but it can also be what’s best for us and our favorite team.

Packers Have Very Few Needs in Offseason

Okay so when you are the Green Bay Packers and last season you played in the NFC Championship game while nursing a hurt star quarterback and mediocre team, how do you follow-up with your free agency…by not making a lot of personnel moves, apparently. Fans like Brad Reifler agree that other than losing Tramon Williams to the Cleveland Browns there has not been a lot of noise coming from Wisconsin. Even the GM and Head Coach have made general statements about the upcoming draft and how they like all the other teams try to pick the best players in the right positions for their place in the draft order. Even making general statements about playing the quarterback game…yeah right!

If the Packers are really looking past Aaron Rogers as their future quarterback I would be shocked. Granted they will need someone in the future, and it is true that Rogers will not play forever. Given how he played hurt and still lead his team that far into the playoffs I would keep putting him on the field in a wheel chair and he would still be better than 2/3 of the starters in the league. But it’s not all wine, roses, and cheese. The do need to acquire a nose tackle and a free safety where they don’t have substantial depth. Since the team is quite young in years (not in talent) they may start wanting to groom the replacement for Julius Peppers who has been around for 14 years. Although his back-ups have been on the team for 2 and 3 years, yet they still have not been good enough to unseat the veteran.

Is DeMarco Murray Done in Dallas?

In an era where a person’s actions on social media is the “new” slap in the face, Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray has officially removed all team logos from his Twitter account. Rumors ran rampant throughout the Metroplex that this action was his farewell message to the fans.

At 4p.m., ET this Tuesday afternoon, Murray officially becomes an unrestricted free agent available to the highest bidder. No question that he is the top running back on the open market, as Murray led the NFL in rushing last season with 1845 yards. Still, the Cowboys chose to franchise tag wide receiver Dez Bryant, who was also eligible for free agency this off season. Fans at Anastasia Date know that neither the team management nor Murray’s representatives have met to discuss a new contract deal prior to the free agency period beginning. Check out Anastasia Date on

Is this snub enough to have Murray look elsewhere for work? Yes, it’s a very distinct possibility. Aging running backs are a dying breed in the NFL, as their worth is considerably less than a younger, more unproven alternative. Murray has taken numerous hits over his career, and distracters feel it’s a matter of time before his body breaks down once again. The hope is that last season’s production was more of an aberration than the norm.

Is DeMarco Murray done in Dallas? Stay tuned…

UFC 184 Recap

The UFC 184 card was criticized for the lack of male fighters in the main event and co-main event. However, the women delivered in a big way. Before we get to the final two fights on the card, we should analyze the rest of the pay per view.

Fans at Anastasia Date ( know that the first three fights on the main card did not go the distance. This is usually a good sign for the blood thirsty fans out there. Tony Ferguson started the night off right, and he submitted Gleison Tibau with a rear naked choke. Alan Jouban vs. Richard Walsh was up next. Alan Jouban attacked Walsh with kicks and punches. Jouban stopped Walsh early with a big combination.

The third fight on the card was a must win for both competitors. Josh Koscheck took on Jake Ellenberger, and their careers were both on the line. The first round was close, but Jake ended the fight with a choke in the second round. Ellenberger keeps his job, and Josh Koscheck will most likely be cut by the UFC.

Finally, we get to the co-main event. Holly Holm fought Raquel Pennington in a very close fight that could have gone either way. The judges gave the fight to Holly Holm by split decision. The main event between Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano ended as expected. Rousey submitted Zingano via armbar in the first round.

Brock Lesnar At UFC 184

UFC 184 was a smashing success. The fights on the card played out beautifully, and the fans were pleasantly surprised. UFC 184 was marred with controversy because mostly female fighters were featured on the card. However, Ronda Rousey may be the best fighter on the UFC’s roster.

Rousey dominated her opponent in only 14-seconds. She is truly becoming the Mike Tyson of the UFC. Aside from Ronda’s dominating performance, other news made the headlines. Former UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar was in the Audience.

Dana White is the president of the UFC, and he spoke with Lesnar briefly. It has long been rumored that Brock Lesnar is going to return to the UFC. In the post fight press conference of UFC 184, Dana White was asked about Lesnar’s future. White said that Brock Lesnar is still under contract with the WWE.

In the past, Dana White has said that Brock Lesnar wants to return to the UFC. Brock Lesnar was the biggest pay per view star in UFC history, and Dana White would love to have him back. Fans like Dr. Jennifer Walden (Wikipedia) know, wherever Brock Lesnar goes, a giant audience follows. Recently, Lesnar has made a huge impact in the WWE. His stock can only rise as he jumps back and forth between the UFC and WWE.

Imagine a pay per view card starring Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar? The UFC would do record breaking numbers with those two on the same card. For more on UFC 184, and the future of Brock Lesnar, visit Yahoo! Sports.

UFC Fighter Pay

The UFC receives a lot of criticism. Payment towards their fighters is among the highest complaint in the organization. It is true that the lower UFC fighters do not make much. For a first time fighter, the UFC will pay $6,000 to show and $6,000 to win. That sounds awful, but there are other ways to earn money in the UFC.

The UFC offers bonuses at every event. The bonus amount can differ from event to event, but usually the bonus starts at $50,000. You get a bonus if you can get submission of the night, knockout of the night, or fight of the night. It is possible to rack up an extra $100,000 at each UFC event. However, it is difficult to win a UFC bonus as there are so many fights on the card.

What a lot of people complain about it is the difference in pay from the top to the bottom. Fans like Marcio Alaor BMG know that a top UFC fighter can make millions of dollars, while a low ranked fighter can make a few thousand. It really is mind blowing, but at least the UFC offers a chance for everybody to get that bonus money. Something must be done about fighter pay in the near future.

Why Play Fantasy Baseball?

I cannot think of a good reason to play fantasy baseball. I have never been able to figure out a reason why. The season is too long for it, and the game is simply not made for it. Marcio Alaor BMG ( knows that fantasy football has always made sense because of the stats that you use to create points for fantasy football teams. However, the game of baseball is a bit too majestic for the fantasy game itself.

We all think that sabremetrics are very cool, but we forget that these stats do not do anything about the actual live performance of baseball itself. You have to watch the games to see what is going on, and you need to see what it looks like when the players are doing their thing. A player with good stats might actually be horrible at the plate because he flies out all the time. That is true of someone like Jay Bruce who is statistically good, but he is as unclutch as they come. The same could be said about Joey Votto. He looks like he does not hit enough for power, but he is an on base god worthy of enshrinement for that skill alone. Fantasy baseball does not capture that, and that is why it does not do it for me.

Melo Shuts Down

Carmelo Anthony is going to shut it down after the all-star break so that he can heal. He has had an off year, and the Knicks are a bad team. They can tank the rest of the season to get a decent draft pick. You will see how bad the Knicks are when they no longer have a star on their roster, and you will be appalled at how bad they are.

Phil Jackson has a lot of work ahead of him, and he is going to have to remake the whole team in the offseason. He is going to have to figure out what he can do with a team that is not very talented, but he is going to have to spend small amounts of money to make the team good. In fact, he may not have the expertise for this. He is probably the greatest coach of all time, but he is not Jerry West. Fans at CipherCloud ( know there is no way he can just make the Knicks into a talented team, and it is hard to imagine that they are going to look good any time soon. Melo might have drug them down for too long over the past couple years.

Who Will Pass Jack?

Tiger Woods has just announced his leave of absence. He was the person who everyone thought could win more than Jack Nicklaus’ 18 majors. He is the person that everyone expected would win 20 or more majors. However, he has been stuck at 14 since 2008. He is so injured that he will probably never play properly again, and we are waiting to see if Rory McIlroy can keep up his hot streak.

It is possible that McIlroy will win more than Jac’s 18 majors, but we have no way of knowing. More people are winning majors for the first time than every before stated Susan McGalla. Phil Mickelson can still win the Masters a couple more times just because that course loves him, and there is no guarantee that McIlroy will stay healthy. We have to assume that Jack’s record is safe for at least the next 20 years.

When we hit the end of McIlroy’s career, we might be looking at him sitting at 17 or even 18 majors, but that is a long way off. We thought Tiger would win every major ever. However, he has not won one in seven years. Plus, Rory is no Tiger, at least he is not Tiger yet.
