North American Spine is Something Most People Could Use

North American Spine is here to help individuals who are suffering from back pain. While the medical practice does specialize in minimal invasive surgical techniques, there are other options available from North American Spine in Dallas, Texas as well. It really depends on the cause of the pain and how long it has not been treated. Of course, before someone is able to receive treatment, it is necessary to understand the different kinds of problems someone might experience in regards to their spine and what North American Spine is able to do about it.

The first general condition associated with the spine is known as a mechanical problem. This basically is caused by the way a person’s spine moves or the way the spine feels when moving in a certain position. Mechanical problems are most likely caused by an intervertebral disc, which basically means the vertebrae are starting to break down due to age. The tissue in between the different vertebrae also reduces in size, which can cause the bones to rub direction on one another, which in turn creates the pain. A ruptured disc, muscle tension and spasms also cause this sort of a problem as well.

The next general problem North American Spine works with is from an injury. This is something the person sustains due to a sprain, fracture or other injury to the back. Tears in ligaments may cause the spine to hurt when moving in a certain way, and fractured vertebrae can cause the rest of the bones around it to become weak. No matter what initially caused the injury, North American Spine is able to assist with the problem and make sure the individual is able to properly recover.

Acquired conditions is another form of spine problems North American Spine works with. This is a medical condition that is causing the back pain. Arthritis is something that caused the acquired condition, while kidney stones, endometriosis and pregnancy also cause these sots of issues as well. It is very important to understand what the cause is of this kind of back pain. While North American Spine always strives to ensure a patient receives the best treatment possible, there are some acquired conditions that may not be completely treated until the cause of the pain is first treated.

Lastly, North American Spine works with a condition that is referred to as infections and tumors. This is not the most common of the different pain problems, it can become extremely debilitating. Tumors are not common along the back, although it is possible to develop these issues. Most likely, tumors along the back have developed due to the spread of tumors in other locations throughout the body.

No matter what the condition is, North American Spine is able to work with the individual and the person’s primary physician in order to restore their spine back to normal and to reduce the amount of pain they might be feeling on a daily basis. This way, everything the person does should feel much better.

Senate Confirms Dr. Vivek Murthy as New Surgeon General

On Monday, the Senate voted to confirm President Obama’s pick for Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy. Obama had selected the 37-year-old back in November 2013. He had excellent credentials: a Boston physician and instructor at the Harvard Medical School. He was also a co-founder of Doctors for America, a group that had advocated the Affordable Care Act.

He also got on the wrong side of the National Rifle Association (NRA). According to the New York Times, Dr. Murthy supported banning certain weapons and ammunition and extending waiting periods for gun sales. He is also known to consider guns a health care issue.

Dr. Rod Rohrich says that over 100 health organizations, including the American College of Physicians and the American Heart Association, endorsed the nomination. In February, Murthy told a Senate hearing that he wouldn’t push gun control, but would concentrate on fighting obesity and promoting healthier communities.

His confirmation passed by a 51-43 vote, making him the youngest Surgeon General in U.S. history and the first of Indian descent. Dr. Murthy was born in England to parents who had emigrated from India. When he was a child, the family moved to Miami, where he grew up. His father was a doctor, which inspired Murthy to become a doctor himself.
